Hmmm... let me think about it... I'll get back with you on that one. Wink

dunno about the nvidia chip. i don't have much info about it. the coming AMD780G chipset will definitely do 1080p, whatever content you throw at it

I'm not a fan of onboard graphics having been disappointed with the output quality. You also have to bin the whole lot when a new feature comes out for example 1080p.

The HTPC which I recently built for my father is obviously the best HTPC ever built.

The motherboard was 40 quid off ebay. A MSI speedster FA-4 motherboard.

Paired with a pentium m CPU 1.6 mhz again of ebay for a tenner. An ATI 2450 15 quid off ebay (the effin DVI to HDMI adaptor was 15 quid).

All powered by a 80 watt Pico PSU again off ebay.

The system is totally fanless and can palyback 720P content with no problem at all. When I need to playback 1080P content I just upgrade the graphics card to say an ATI 3450.

For what my father needs this is ideal. It was cheap uses bugger electricity and can playback everything he throws at it. And with GBPVR is bloody reliable and it simple interface means it easy for him to use.
MSI FA-4 speedster, Pentium M 2.0, 2 gig memory ,nvidia 210, Samsung Ecogreen 1.5 Terabyte Hard Drive

that's exactly the point. i don't see any feature after 1080p lurking on the horizon. let's get real: digital movies are cast at best on 4K (4096 x 2300), the most ones are cast on 35mm and scanned on 2K (2048 x 1150) for digital processing. WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!!! 2K is about the same resolution as 1080p! i won't expect hollywood to start distributing better quality to the masses then the one they have. i guess it will take them about 4-5 years at least to get 4K established (within production & distribution)... take into account the lifetime of the still living DVD & you get the chance to build a top notch HTPC with no graphics card needed & you are on the safe side for at least 5 years Big Grin
