When I schedule shows for recording and I play them back using VLC player... I noticed that out off 10 shows I scheduled to record .. the program will record all of them but only 3-4 will have video and sound.. all others have no sound at all or a buzzing sound... Is this something that I can troubleshoot...?

The only way to fix the problem is to restart the computer...

The only settings I see if audio encoding for playback.. what about decoding for recording? where do I change that?

Anyone experiencing a problem like that?

My setup:
- Windows Xp
- Dell 8400
- PVR-350

Play a bad one in VLC and see if the audio up in the menu is set on 5.1 or something else besides stereo. If so, see if switching it to 2-channel stereo gives you sound.

I was getting that a lot with the ATI mux. I don't think it's happened since switching to .ts and dvr-ms. (Although it may have once or twice. I've been messing with muxes a lot lately so aren't sure.) Definitely happened A LOT with the ATI Mux.

Mux option is on the last tab in Config. Run GBPVR's "Mux Checker" to see what you have installed. I think DVR-MS is built-in but .ts might not be.

edit: I now see the PVR350 mentioned. I don't know if that forces you to use it's built-in mpeg recording or not. Either way, when similar happened to me, it was a mux problem. You can use Gspot or Media Info to see what it shows for one of those bad audio tracks. On mine, the main AC3 audio track would be listed but I think show as 0 bitrate, but there would be a second stereo 2.0 audio track listed, which I could then switch to in VLC. But GBPVR I think can only record one audio track, so the mux was really messing things up.

At other times, on a 5.1 AC3 track I could hear the background sounds such as music or sound effects, but there'd be no voice audio. Again, I was able to hear all the sounds by switching to the 2.0 audio track in VLC.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:
