my only wish is for evr aspects ratios like vmr has...[evr seems to be the way of the future] as many shows are still 4-sided-boxed so zoom beyond borders is needed bad..
[16:9 video inside a 4 sided black box on 16:9 screen, just plain wasting space]
i remember you worked it into even overlay in old interface..hoping..Smile

oh and better looking osd text...looks smooth in vmr, but a bit blocky in evr...
[not as bad as overlay tho]
anything i can do to change that?
or does it look smooth in vista only? [blah]

The coolest aspect ratio would be like the "warped resize" in ffdshow, to non-linearly stretch 4:3 onto a 16:9 display, meaning the middle of the picture is still approximately the correct aspect ratio, but the sides are stretched more.

I know that's not an "aspect ratio" and needs an actual resize filter in the mix, but I can still wish for it. Smile I've got ffdshow as my decoder and have it going on right now, but I'm pretty sure as I set up my new HVR-1600 for HD channels, my CPU won't be able to handle ffdshow anymore. Sad So, goodbye to my warped resize.. Sad

The problem is with EVR. It will not accept negative values which are needed to eliminate the borders. I don't think there is much sub can do about it.

ahh, but i remember overlay having same problem and he worked it in before...
i thought it just required some playing with the numbers to fooling it into thinking it got what it wanted...maybe it's different here with d3d..i also remember vmr9 custom not being able to zoom once but he worked it out..Smile

just mostly cuz EVR seems the renderer of the future, as Vista etc. will ram it down our throats and vmr might not see any changes into the future...
[it doesn't even seem like they're working on it anymore!]
as it is i put a custom command in menu so i can change the renderer from remote.....sometimes need zoomability...[stupid bars!]

with a bit of tweaking i have vmr9 playing well for all but 1080i...but still not supersmooth like evr...Sad

I said I didn't think he could. I'm have no doubt that if there is a way, he will find it. sub has that je ne sais quoi about him. Wink

yeah, that's on the top of my wishlist, too. i have widescreen monitor and now I can choose between having either the edges black (Pillarbox) or stretching (Fill) while the top and the bottom may still be unused, depending on the show. So a ZOOM mode would be welcome!

forget what i said... it's only the overlay mode that does not allow clipping edges.
