Our MVP has become unstable after upgrading to 1.2.9. It hangs in the middle of shows and we have to restart the recording service and sometimes unplug the MVP to get it to reconnect. The odd thing is we are able to watch some shows without much problem, then all of a sudden things go very wrong and nothing really works until many restarts.

I'm running on an older PC (600 mhz P3 w/ 512 mb ram and XP SP2). Things were working well with the previous version of GBPVR. I've been running GBPVR.EXE for the MVP. I've tried PVRX2.EXE, but that was even more unstable.

I've attached the logs that were updated after a restart of the recording service and the MVP hung, then I turned off the MVP and let the logs finish filling up before zipping them up.

I'm happy to look at any logs using the PVRX2.exe MVP server. I wouldnt recommend anyone use the old GBPVR.exe MVP server. It had lots of bugs, and is no longer supported.

Hi Sub,

Ok, I switched the config to use PVRX2.exe and after getting most of the way through a show, the MVP suddenly went to "Contacting Servers". I looked at the log file and saw a line in there that said something like "MVP connection is gone."

Thanks for looking into it.

Hi Sub,

One more for you. The MVP will not connect up to the server again. I restarted the server after changing the config to only start one instance of PVRX2.exe. I then unplugged the MVP and after about 10 seconds, plugged it back in. It didn't detect the network, so I looked at the log file and found the following entry:

Sending MVP Service Locator response to 0:16882 (control: 5906, streaming: 8337)

That was after about 5 of these

Sending MVP Service Locator response to 502A8C0:16882 (control: 5906, streaming: 8337)

The log file is attached.

In this case, there was no problem on the GB-PVR side, but the MVP disconnected for some unspecified reason. Hard to guess what that might have been.

It might be worth trying the alternative mvpmc dongle. It is a little more fault tolerant, and we'd at least have visibility of why it chose to disconnect in this type of situation.

Thanks Sub. I'll give that dongle a shot and see what happens.

I cant see any obvious cause in the logs. Everything looks ok from the GB-PVR point of view.

Are you running a wired network, or some wireless (or powerline) networking?

I'm running a wired network. The MVP hooks up to my broadband router and my GBPVR server is hanging off of the same router.

I installed the mvpmc dongle and will upload any logs if it happens again.
