hd and sower systems

what happen to the thread about setting up hd on a slower computer. was trying to help someone that thinks they need a quad core and 64 bit os.

There are quite a few that discuss it. Try changing the filter criteria on the bottom of the page that limits how old the posts are that you view.

I have a pretty lowly system and since I have installed as ATI3450 I have been able to play back 720 and 1080 files without problem. However some older MKV files cannot be hardware accelerated and bring the system to a holt. They in fact play back with less CPU usage than mpeg2.

Since freesat has launched in the UK I could now receive HD TV but as of yet I haven't got around to putting up a dish. So I haven't tried live TV with my set up.

My advice is try it if your system and do it then great - if not spash some cash until it can.
