EDIT: SOLVED (but don't know how to mark thread as solved, apologies!)
Maybe this is silly, but there are only a handful of forum posts which mention DVR-MS metadata, and none addressing this issue.
What I'd like to do is be able to take selected recordings from GB-PVR to another computer, yet keep show info associated with that file. This could then be read on another device where the GB-PVR database isn't present.
In the past I've manually kept HTML files with this info next to mpeg-2 recordings. But now that I've switched to Windows and GB-PVR, it seems apparent that unlike the MPEG standard, an advantage of Microsoft's DVR-MS is enabling fairly extensive metadata (or DRM if you are particularly twisted) to be kept within the asf container itself. Thus the recording plus show info can be portable, not reliant on the database.
I've found a tool for editing DVR-MS metadata here, but the only problem is that GB-PVR doesn't seem to populate the fields with things like the show name, description, episode number etc which are in the GB-PVR database (I've only looked at a few files though).
So what I'd like is a tool which would enable me to export a selected recording to a new DVR-MS file, to which extra metadata - including show name, description yadayada as above - from the GB-PVR database pertaining to that show is added. Please note, I'm not dissing the database, just want to make certain recordings more 'portable'
Does that make sense? I'm fairly new here so please correct me if I'm missing the bleeding obvious
