I'm just bring my system back up after a HD failiure...so I've restaged XP with ATI550 and GBPVR. Before this everything was working very nicely, buy not so anymore:

1) No video for live or video playback --> black screen with the OSD
2) Audio plays ok
3) Channel changing ok
4) Played around with diferent codecs in the config utility
5) Installed ATI WDM drivers
6) NVidia PureVideo decorder installed

I've attached my log...not sure where to go since I've pretty much did everything I did before.

Thanks in advance...

Its most likely something related to your video decoder. Try a different set of decoders to see if it works.

Sub,

Tried the following:

1) Loaded and selected MPV codec from other thread --> no change
2) Reinstalled ATI drivers --> no change
3) Tried all other codecs just to make sure --> no change

The log seems to indicate and issue, but not sure?

Thanks

There is no sign of any errors in the logs.

Is the device working correctly in any other software?

I still have old shows on the other hard drive that were created with GBPVR in MPG format I tried playing one of those through the GBPVR video directory and got basically the same thing...audio, but no video.

Since this isn't using the tuner card is it must be something in the way GBPVR plays the file?

If its happening on pre-existing files, then it must be something to do with the video decoder and/or video renderer you're using. All I can suggest is trying other combinations.

Read the thread about my pop and click problem when playing mp3s. You might think it's a different problem, but it's very similar. Like you, I had trouble with GB-PVR playing back some files (some mp3s) that 3 other programs played fine.

GB-PVR hands over the job of video and audio playback to Windows and DirectShow. DirectShow uses "filters" to play the file. Some programs force the use of certain filters during playback. Others, like GB-PVR, do not - they let windows decide based on the merit of the filter. "Merit " is just a number - the higher number filter gets used.

If you download Radlight Filter Manager, you can see the filters and adjust their merit. If you download Graphedit, you can load a media file and see the default filters for that file - the same ones that GB-PVR will use. Graphedit will play the file, and if it fails like it fails in GB-PVR, it's a good sign that the fault is in your filters and their merit. Graphedit will let you try different combinations of filters to see what works, then you can adjust the filter merit so the working combination gets used.

SparcEE, did you resolve this issue? I've got the exact same problem with the same setup.
