Has anyone here got an MX-850 remote and can supply me a copy of the editor software? In a recent machine rebuild I lost the copy I originally downloaded about 2 years ago, and the URC website is now requiring me to register my remote to download the software, using the serial# that I cant find in my battery compartment...

Sorry no.
But as long as you have the serial number of it (probably printed on the battery compartment) you can register here and download it if I recall correctly.

As I don't have it I can't check myself if all this is true or not.

Yeah I did find that page, but as I mentioned above, my serial number is not in the battery compartment.

I'd seen a couple of other people on forums say they couldnt find the serial number, and received comments saying that those are sold by unauthorised sellers (even though genuine remotes), and were no longer entitled to the software. They removed the previously freely available download after custom installers complained about the price being way undercut by online retailers...

My remote was bought from Amazon, which is apparently an unauthorised reseller Rolleyes

I dont think I'll ever be buying one of this manufacturers remotes again in the future.

I was reading a few posts on the forum. Apparently the software they offer for download (if you register) is not able to be updated like the software available to custom installers. Apparently custom installers didn't like loosing the $400 they were getting for programming it and raised a stink. Rolleyes

After a lot of search, this is the only thing I've found, maybe if you contact him, he is kind enough to give them to you?

I was able to download the program by entering any old information in the name and location field.

For serial number I chose K and then entered 12345 etc.

It said the information was submitted and a download link was made available.

Give it a try sub!

Thanks - got it! I'd tried a few random numbers, but hadnt tried setting that first field to 'K'. After that it downloaded nicely for me. (...if only their customer support email had been that helpful...)

Glad you got it. I checked with my distributor (authorized by the way) and the software does not come with the remote. Even custom installers have to download it.
