If anyone is interested I got Future Pinball running via gamezone this morning. I only found the emu a couple of days ago and its pretty impressive. The main advantages for me over Visual Pinball is that it supports gamepads and you can toggle the playfield views including a view which tracks the ball across the playfield which make it a bit more user friendly on a TV. There is also a wrapper available which worked with one very minor amendment, my setup is as follows:

Future Pinball site http://www.futurepinball.com/ download executable and some tables here.

Download wrapper from here http://www.spacefractal.com/files/App/Fu...rapper.zip

Run the Future Pinball setup program, unzip the wrapper to the same folder as the Future Pinball executable and remove all of the spaces from the wrapper name i.e. change from "Future Pinball Wrapper.exe" to "FuturePinballWrapper.exe".

Extract any table to the tables folder.

Run Future Pinball to make sure it works outside GBPVR and set your video and gamepad options as required.

Set up Future Pinball as an extra emulator pointing at the wrapper as the executable and not forgetting the %file% argument, set up the rom directory to point at the tables folder.

Play pinball! Definitely easier than Visual Pinball to set up!Big Grin

How do you set up the GameZone XtraEmulators for ROMs? It asks for a system but there is no XtraEmulators listed as a system? If I try and build a ROM path to Table directory without a system listed I get an error. A screenshot of your GameZone config would be handy if you could.

Thanks!

OK I'm at work and this is from memory so don't shoot me down if I get it wrong.

First off you need the latest version of Gamezone which supports extra emulators once installed you can set up Future Pinball as an extra emulator using the wrapper as the executable.

Then set up the ROM path in the usual manner, Future Pinball should appear in the system drop down menu, set up the path to tables, file extension etc. and away you go.

If you still cant get it to work I will post some screen shots when I get a chance.

Its worth stating that most of the tables in future pinball are original tables but some are excellent, there are licensing issues etc. which means PINMAME is not used in Future Pinball but I will let you read about that on their forums.Big Grin

If you have not got %FILE% within your arguments the Xtra emulator will not be added to the ROMPATH system pull down menu, note %FILE5 must be in capitals!

I think I will add that to the next release that lower case and upper case work fine, as I'm sure that catches people out.

Yeah, I figured out the %FILE% in all caps last night! Doh! I have it up and running now just need to do some tweaks. Thanks again guys! Time to go back and install some of my older PC games (like Need For Speed and DOOM) and live to good old days again!

If you get any working see if you can give others a clue on how you did it. I am thinking of organising the wiki to have some of the XtraEmulators setups as a new page off of GameZones, I am sure there are many people out there that will appreciate such an addition.

What was the reason for removing the spaces? I tried it and didnt remove the spaces and it worked fine!

A few observations,

1. loads really slow on my dual core Desktop PC, and really quick on my single core HTPC
2. fullscreen in widescreen leaves a border where you can see GBPVR on the right hand side
3. Flippers suffer from lag after the keys are pressed using the keyboard
4. Much easier than VPinball to setup :-D

Hmmm, when I tried the wrapper with spaces i got a "Future is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" message in the command prompt window. I imediately thought it was because of the spaces i.e. DOS needs "" around a name with spaces, so I took them out and it worked.
