On a serious note, I watched the movie that I was having a problem with. After it finished, I couldn't play any other files. I was getting the buffer screen and then it would go back to the menu. I was going through my application log on the server and came across this:

Code:
An unhandled exception occurred and the process was terminated.

Application ID: GBPVRRecordingService.exe

Exception: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException

Any idea what is going on? I also checking the services and the GBPVRRecording service was stopped. I restarted the service and it started normally.

Since you are AutoStarting 2 MVP servers unfortunately the play of the movie wasn't logged. My guess based yesterday's attempt is that MovieWiz might be locking the database when it does one of its update ie:

Code:
2008-08-08 18:53:00.906    VERBOSE    [6]    MovieWizCore: setLastPlayed: tranCnt-1, sql=UPDATE Movies SET lastViewedTS=

causing the crash
Code:
2008-08-09 20:31:59.875    ERROR    [12]    Encountered unexpected error in LiveTVFileManager.WorkerThread(): Unable to open the database file
unable to open database file
2008-08-09 20:31:59.875    ERROR    [12]       at System.Data.SQLite.SQLite3.Open(String strFilename)

Not sure this is MovieWiz causing the lock issue. Two reasons:
  1. The setLastPlayed routine runs the update in a transaction, and the commit seems to have completed successfully.
  2. Even more importantly, the update occurs in the MovieWiz.db3, the Recording service seems to be locked on the gbpvr.db3.

Thanks JavaWiz, if it is a new database that should rule out that. Note that the logs for the time in question don't exist so sub would have to explain this now.
