Hi,

I've been using the pluging since early release and it's been great. Something odd has happened recently which I don't understand.

My scan used to show 25 channels and icons which all worked fine but a few days ago I discovered if I clicked on "Heart", the playing logo comes up but I get no sound. If I click on "Virgin", I get sound.

At first I thought it was just "Heart" but then I discovered it was 90% of the stations that had stopped working.

I knew there had been some recent Freeview changes so I decided to do a re-scan to see if any frequencies etc had changed. The scan failed with no channels found.

Checking the Wiki I saw the notes that I needed the latest version of the plugin so I downloaded, installed and updated LAME as well.

When I started the plugin, it scans for channels and finds the same number as before but only a handful of them are identified, the others are flagged as unknown.

Thought I'd check the channels.csv file but I can't find one. Has it become obsolete?

When I click on one of the identified channels (e.g. Virgin), it plays fine. If I click on one of the unknown ones, the "Playing" icon comes up "Unknown" but there's no sound.

So now I'm reduced to 5 DVB-T channels that work Sad

Any idea what's going on? Logs attached including the original Channels.csv file from before the upgrade.

Sorry for the slow response - I meant to post a message to say I was going to be away on holiday for a week.

Yes, the channels.csv file is now obsolete and the newest version uses the "DVB-T Radio.db3" SQLite database. If you copy the empty version of this from the downloaded zip file into the DVB-T Radio pllugin folder, it should force a rescan.

There's something odd in your log which suggests it's finding the same channel information over and over. I've seen this before at certain times of the day here with Crystal Palace - try another scan and let me know if it fixes it.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for the advise. I didn't bump the thread because I guessed you might be taking a break given the time of year.

I'll try overwriting the db3 and will let you know the results. I'm running on Sutton Colefield and have just bounced my set top Freeview box to see if that can pickup the radio channels ok. It finds all of them and plays all of them fine.

Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

OK..... Now I AM confused.

I stopped the recording service, deleted the db3 in the dvb radio plugin directiory (it was about 54k in size) and replaced it with the db3 (about 7k) from the downloaded zip file.

Restarted the recording service and guess what..... it doesn't force a rescan and the screen still shows the "unknown" stations plus the five it found before.

Double checked the database had been copied over and yep, it definitely was replaced.

Have I missed something?

When you say 'recording service' do you mean the DVB-T Radio service? Restarting that should force a rescan based on the fact there are no channels in the DB. I do it quite often - I'll check again.

EDIT: I've just tried it - stopped the DVB-T Radio service, copied DB, restarted service and it prompted to scan when I started the plugin in PVRX2.

Cheers,
Brian

PS - Yes we enjoyed the holiday thanks although a bit wet and windy (Welsh borders).

Ah stupid me.... I forgot the new DVB-T radio prog is now a service. I was just stopping / starting GBPVR. I'll have to write a script to do both in future.

Ok, restarted DVB-T service and re-scan appears. Scanned and this time all the channel logos appear.

Checked playback and all the stations now play. Big Grin

Great! Thanks for your help and hard work. Much appreciated.

Great stuff - glad it's working. I need to put a sticky up and/or add something to the wiki about forcing a rescan. I'll make sure I specify the DVB-T Radio Service needs to be stopped/restarted.

I'm not sure why there are problems finding channel details at certain times - I'm pretty certain my code complies with the various DVB-T specs. I'll take another look and perhaps add the issue somewhere as an FAQ.

Cheers,
Brian
