I recently introduced some "ol school" games to my 4 yr. old with the GameZone plugin. (Very nice work, by the way...excellant plug in)

I am using "Kega".
The only problem is Kega opens up in a new window and at that point to play another game you have use the mouse to close the window.

My question is:
a) is there something easy I am missing so that Kega opens within PVRX2?
b) is it possible to set the Hauppauge (I believe it is the pvr 150, 45 button)
to close the current window, bringing you back to "pvrx2" via the irremote.ini - with keyboard command to do Alt+F4

I just want my daughter to be able to do play these games with the remote only (no mouse)..

Once again, any help is truly appreciated.Rolleyes

do a search in the forum for irremote and you should find something, a few people have "adjusted@ their ini files to allow for control of emulators. Failing that I have the MCE remote and use IR server suite to do the same trick (you can also use HIP or Girder)

Alternatively perhaps a fellow Hauppauge remote user may see this post Big Grin

Good luck.

One thing I have done is use JoyToKey program to map one of the unused buttons on my game controller to ALT+F4 for my SNES emulator. You could use the same to map the ESC key or whatever key Kega uses to exit (been a while since I played it, can't remember!).

I had also asked about something similar about remotes here in this thread:

I haven't had time to try what was recommended but perhaps it can help you out too.

Thanks for your help. The JoytoKey is an interesting way to go, but I went ahead and tried something else.
I used AutoHotKey to make an .exe that basically makes Sega (Fusion) active, then uses the Alt+f4 keyboard command.
See script:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
WinWait, Fusion 3.51 © Steve Snake`, 2006.,
IfWinNotActive, Fusion 3.51 © Steve Snake`, 2006., , WinActivate, Fusion 3.51 © Steve Snake`, 2006.,
WinWaitActive, Fusion 3.51 © Steve Snake`, 2006.,
Send, {ALTDOWN}{F4}{ALTUP}

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I then mapped the Yellow button on the remote in the "Default" section of irremote.ini to open up the the .exe created earlier.

This seemed to work ok, except the script doesn't work when fusion has a game open...?
If I run the script without a game open it closes the window.

Any suggestions as I am so close to making my "Wifey" happy.
(she doesn't like the idea to play a game that you need a controller, remote, and a Mouse)

I am betting that when Kega has a game open the name of the window changes (e.g. Kega - Altered Beast). MAME does this I think as well. See if the AutoHotKey program will look for partial name windows and see what the Kega window shows when running a game. If Kega is anywhere in there and AutoHotKey lets you, perhaps you could set it for partial name windows and link it to anything thing with Kega in the title.

If ViperDragon loses his bet Big Grin
Then I would think the next issue is timing, the sending of keys to any application particularly one that is running a game can be very tricky.

I use the simkey app (attached) to send Alt-F4 you would call it as simkey %[F4]
Although Alt-F4 may get you the same objective, I personally use ESC to close Kega works really well

I'm going to give it to VipDragon....
You are right that it is looking for the complete title and that changes when opening a game.

Here is all I did..
I deleted everything in the script except for:
--------------------------
Send, {ALTDOWN}{F4}{ALTUP}
-----------------------------

So now I can use the "Yellow button" to close any window in focus.
(this could be useful if I set up custom plugins to open within PVRX2.
Ex. Open up Internet Explorer and close via remote)

Sorry idkpmiller...
I didn't get to try your idea...
I think I am going to download it anyway, just to see what you meant...

(OK I tried SimKey and thanks for sharing because that could be useful also. )
