I would like to be able to use a wildcard when setting up a reoccurring recording.

ITV in the UK has an annoying habit of using titles such as "Formula 1 Grand Prix of Singapore" or similar which obviously does not get picked up by GBPVR. But if I could do "Formula 1*" that should catch them all

I appreciate it is probably a lot of work for little gain, but thought I would throw it out there...

Maybe with F1 coming back to the BBC next year it will hopefully change...

I'd like to be able to do this as well. For the same sort of programmes as well - fairly infrequent and possible name variants.
Some stations manage to get the variable bit in the subtitle field, but ITV frequently put it all in the main title. The family like to watch "you've been framed" but it often comes up as "the best of you've been framed" or "you've been framed best 100" etc etc.

I think you can do something like this through the EWA. Create a saved search in the Episode search tab and check the "Include in Daily Auto-Record (Schedules Programmes to record)" box.

I don't think you can use Wildcards but a search for "Formula 1" should return all the results above (maybe some extras if there was a "Best of Formula 1" instead of just things starting with "Formula 1")
Using GB-PVR since December 2005

But if your main controls are MVPs and PCHs you don't have much access to the EWA

Well I never - thanks for the tip Smile

As Martint123 says it would be great to be able to do it with the remote...

I wrote a simple python script which helps me tackle with a similar problem. If it finds more than 30% of words identical to the original title in the same relative sequence it schedules a reccurent recording.

It also fixes one-shoot pending recordings if the title is slightly modified and/or they shift in time.

Do not expect the script to be 100% succesful. It has only been tested on GBPVR 1.1.5 in a single tuner environment. I do not know whether it will work in a multiple tuner setup.
Since it has to delete some scheduled recordings during the process be careful to backup your database before you experiment with it.

It is run from PostUpdateEPG.bat. In order to run you need to have python installed and in your path. To install it just copy fixschedule.py to "Third Party" directory, add the content of the attached PostUpdateEPG.bat to your PostUpdateEPG.bat and copy the reload-schedule.exe to the gbpvr directory. The dbase path is hardcoded in the script. If gbpvr is not on c: in the default directory you will need to fix this.
