UltraXMLTV: Display messing up during update

... actually better as now I can setup to just record new episodes or to just record reruns which is handier than you might think!

of course the new show indicator idea has been around for a while. Ultra is just keeping the tradition alive...

I've been working with GBPVR on my monitor. It's pretty much done now I think so I hooked it up to the TV tonight and have set it by the entertainment center (will go in it if nothing else pops up!).

I did an epg udate with it hooked up to the TV to make sure the display would recover after the update . . . guess what? Not even a flicker! It just does it's thing and goes on! Must be something to do with the video driver!

Seeing what? The display quirks while updating? The new program indicator breaking the season records? The new program indicator behavior can be seen if you do a program search too - the new one is listed with the * and the re-runs are listed separately.

Yeah I can't take credit for the Asterix. A while ago, before my time, sub needed to parse the filename to remove asterixs, so it would be a legal filename for recorded files. That's why M*A*S*H is stored in a MASH folder etc...

Then Jim_ put together I-XMLTV (I believe he was the first) that used an * for new shows. GB-PVR will show the difference as new shows or not-new shows, anywhere you see a show title, like TV Guide or Search, and yet they all get recorded and stored in the same folder.

Several other listing downloaders/grabbers implemented the new show indicator too. Whurlston was the first grabber writer that discontinued the new show indicator, knowing that Ultra would do it along with other enhancements...

BTW, I think the reason why it's not flickering for you now is that the enhancer is on your monitor and the GUI is on your second monitor-the TV...they don't fight anymore...

I hadn't noticed that the programs with the * were still being put in the proper directory!

I hadn't thought about the flickering, though my system doesn't support dual monitors - it's either one or the other, but not two at once. Still just because the monitors can't run at the same time doesn't mean it's not appearing as two to the system or something. Who knows, it works perfect so I'm not complaining! (actually wasn't complaining anyway - a couple minute glitch in the middle of the night is not big deal anyway, it was just curious).
