I'm having problems getting my PCH setup correctly with Gbpvr. When I started it the first time, the Gbpvr scereen acutally came up but the resolution eas extremely low. I had forgot to change the settings in config.xml. Since I changed them to what I thought was correct, I cannot get a display anymore after running telnet.html and Gbpvr. I took out the changes, and still cannot get anything but a black screen.

First of all, I am running the PCH in 1080i mode with component cables. So my first question is, what should be the command line options for running mvpmcx2.exe? The sample showed the following:

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 -m 1080i &

but I also read somewhere in the forum that I may need a -o component option. I also read that if you have your display setup specifically on the PCH, you do not need a -m option. I tried the following:

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &

but this also did not work.

Second question: If my TV is 1080i component, is this what I should add to the config.xml file (modifying the mac address, of course)?

<MAC-0006DC41DFA1>
<MVPClientType>PCH</MVPClientType>
<MVPWidth>1920</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>1080</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>0</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>0</MVPOffsetY>
<MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>true</MVPSendIncrementalUpdates>
<MVPTranscodeTS>false</MVPTranscodeTS>
<MVPTranscodeAVI>false</MVPTranscodeAVI>
<MVPTranscodeWMV>false</MVPTranscodeWMV>
<MVPTranscodeMKV>false</MVPTranscodeMKV>
</MAC-0006DC41DFA1>

Should I be able to run any resolution smaller than this? The reason I ask is because like I stated earlier, Gbpvr came up the first time before I modified config.xml. Any help would be appreciated.

I would change you command line to be

-m 1080i -o component

and change your config.xml to be

<MVPWidth>1280</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>720</MVPHeight>

And then restart the recording services. If that isn't working compress and upload your logs.

One thing I did notice. If I wait long enough the PCH will return to the main screen (I had been resetting the PCH). I tried your settings and I get the same result - just a black screen, although I do get a light blue screen for just a fraction of a second. I have attached the logs from the server.

According to those logs you have turned off the autostart MVP server and the web server is not even configured.

I'm feeling rather dumb at the moment. Thanks - that fixed the problem. When I started running into issues I copied back the old config.xml (at least I thought it was the one which was working). Thanks again for your help.

Can I get you to look at one more set of logs? I installed the Community skin on the server since this is what I normally use. After that, the PCH no longer runs Gbpvr. Black screen again and it hangs until a reset. I changed back to the blue screen and it still doesn't work.

I don't see anything "bad" in those logs (except may T: drive) If you unplug your PCH you do need to start both telnet.cgi and then gbpvr.cgi

Not sure what you mean. If you unplug the PCH, wouldn't you always have to reselect the media source, run telnet, and then run Gbpvr?

I think I answered my own question after I thought about what you said. I didn't realize you had to run telnet first, then Gbpvr. I thought you were referring to telnet.html. I was thinking the telnet script was just used for initial testing. I think this might have been my problem all along. Once I ran telnet again, then I could start Gbpvr. Thanks again for your help.

I was confirming you were doing this since I couldn't see an obvious problem.

Edit: I see you got it. The difference between a problem and not running telnet is that with a problem it will return to the PCH software.
