Suggestion: Place a parental lock code on the 'Misc' tab of Config.exe

Suggestion: When configuring from the 'Directories' tab, have a togle to enable parental lock so that playing video from that directory via 'Video Library' would require the lock code to be entered.

Suggestion: When scheduling the recordings, 'turn on' parental lock, that would require a code to view later from the Recordings playback.

ive added a PIN number to the "my videos" plugin which you can set for files and folders, but only when you playback files from that. so no control in the recordings feature.

xrecord has a pin where you can lock certain videos it locks in pending and ready.

I've been thinking of adding pins too. It would be nice if all three video plug-ins stoed pins in the same place using the sma ealgortim so while the UIs might differ people could have one set of pins that worked with everything. What do you think?

the md5 algorithm is enough, i tied the pins into the directory view xml file i use to remember the folders view. ie it would be annoying moving these stored pins away from this.

What would be really nice is if all three video plugins could come to an agreement on how to store archived information, either program or movie info. One common DLL could be generated to get the information, and interoperability could be achieved.

At the min, if all three have a pin implementation, then it would be nice to have it one place. I know as a potential user I'd rather have info in one place then spread through 3 different implemenations. Jeff already has the database, I don't think it would be too difficult to add PIN support there (both master and secondary). If nothing else, a set of Interface classes would be nice, so that regardless of how the data is stored on the back end, it still could be retrieved the same way.

it would be nice for movie info (since well we're all using Jeffs code to get the info anyways), someone has to work on a database class and a database, i know very little about databases so ill be no good here. but i do have an idea what would be needed.
movie info with: actors*,directors*, runtime, certification, tagline, genres*,descrition. and perhaps demuxed (to flag for dvd burning), watched (if the user has watched this), rating.
so you could sort by actor, directory, genre etc.
also you could shove pin numbers in here. since you sometime would use the movie info for directories (eg tv shows). anyone want to take up the job of doing this?

I can extract my database stuff to its own DLL and add the other fields. It may take me a while to do so however.

I appreciate the dialog, but I am really a simple guy.

The only plugin I use is the weather one.

I would really like to see the pin feature incorporated into the config.exe that would store it inside the gb-pvr database or in the config.xml. Then have the code that plays the files require the pin if the feature was enabled at recording selection time or at the video directory level.

Undersand my point of view is from the MVP, so tight security is not a requirement. A simple parental control from the MVP is all I am asking for.
