There are some shows I record that I like to keep, like Lost and 24. I record them in high quality, clean them up, and then burn them to DVD. Most stuff I just watch and delete.
Now that I have an HD tuner, I prefer to record those keepers in HD. I manually remove commercials, by demuxing (using tsmuxer), cutting (using cuttermaran), remuxing (tsmuxer again), and compressing (using mediacoder) to xvid.
Now I'd prefer to use AutoGK for compression, but for some reason, one of the above steps makes it so autoGK cannot find the audio stream in the edited .ts. It's there, my media players and mediacoder have no trouble finding it, but autoGK can't, despite the fact that it has no problems with the same show's .ts before I begin messing with it.
I'm in no hurry to change anything since my current solution works well enough, but I am curious what might be causing the snafu. Any ideas?
