What is needed to control the GBPVR software via remote? I already have a Harmony 880 remote and I am thinking I need some type of IR receiver and software. Any tips on this would be great. I currently do not have a capture card.

Thanks

mostly Wink
You should get basic plug and play (look on the dvd tab in config to select it as your remote type), but take a look here http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardw...oteControl for a more thorough customization.

Used in conjunction with HIP (free) and replacement drivers (follow the links through from the gbpvr wiki to the hip site) you'll be able to reassign all the WMC keys to GBPVR too.

Took a little bit of messing to get HIP and the drivers set up, but is now working flawlessly. The big advantage of using the MCE remote IMO is that you can wake (and sleep) the PC from the remote.

Thanks

If you dont' have a capture card yet the easiest option would be to purchase a Hauppage DVB tuner card or USB, as they all come with very good (I think)45-button remotes which, with minimal effort, control GBPVR perfectly. In fact you can use them to control any Windows app. Hauppage happen to be good cards too, and GBPVR seems to support most of them.

Thanks to all of you. I am new to this and it is a fun hobby. I am using a 2.4 mhz celeron and I am just looking to watch movies and listen to internet radio. These two I have accomplished and then I will pvr standard def Tivo. I think this machine should be sufficient.

Thanks
