I've been using gb-pvr for a long, it's a great programm! I've just installed the newest gb-pvr-software on my new computer but cannot connect it with my MVP! Hauppauge's MVP-Software works perfectly (finds the server), but GB-PVR doesnt!

With the gb-pvr-software, the MVP-Client cannot find a "streaming server" (screen: no streaming server found - press <OK> to rescan, i did that several times). i've set the "number of servers to autostart" in the gb-pvr-config to "1". Windows-firewall-settings should be fine (gb-pvr is excepted from the firewall) and hauppauge-mvp-software isn't runnign anymore.

Can anyone help me please to connect the mvp-client with the gb-pvr software? why can't it find the gb-pvr-server, but the hauppauge-mvp-server?

If you upgraded an old version of GB-PVR, that is probably the issue. Software firewalls typically don't allow a file to access the net just by the file name alone. They also store stuff like file size, date, etc. (This prevents a trojan from using a common file name to give itself access through your firewall). So even though you are using the same file name to run the app, as far as the firewall is concerned it is not the same file. Register the new version of PVRX2.exe with the firewall and things should work again. Smile

I have to agree with the above post. In the logs it looks like no connection is received, so most likely a firewall getting i the way.

I'm sorry, but that didn't solve the problem!

I've also tried to totally disable the windows-firewall (no other firewall is installed), but the result is the same on the mvp-client "no streaming server found - press OK to rescan".

sub: the log files indicate, that the gb-pvr-server is running? but the client can't get the signal? how can that be Smile ?!

do you have any other idea what to do?

Thanks!

Since the dongle loaded but it didn't connect afterwards, It looks like you might have a problem getting an IP by DHCP.

Are you sure the hauppauge services are finished? Check with windows taskmanager.
Could it be some antivirus-software you have installed. Maybe you made an exclusion long ago for gbpvr.exe, but now the exclusion should be for pvrx2.exe

Hans

Edit: thought of another one: I may be far off, but I remember something about "interact with desktop" having to be enabled for the gbpvrrecordingservice.

I had no luck with these proposals Undecided

Hauppauge services are finished - I deleted them from my computer, they are not runnig any more. there is also no other anti-virus software runnig (except windows-firwall, where pvrx2.exe is excluded). and that "interact with desktop"-thing did not help me either.

i guess that DHCP-service is fine - when i look at my router status (netgear wgr614) i see two attached devides: 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3, wich is the media-mvp. and as dongle.bin seems to have been loaded, there should be a connection between the server and the media-mvp?!

do i have to set anything else at the router? the only thing i can do is "Use Router as DHCP Server" - which is "on". and the media-mvp should have a correct IP (192.168.1.3)! or is this a wrong ip-adress? should there be an other ip-adress for the mvp, which is saved in the dongle.bin, perhaps?

In the Netgear-support I read that they recommend shutting down Windows firewall because in the Netgear there are already 2 kinds of firewall working (NAT and SP1). Have you already tried that?
