@Daldana: my original test platform for GB-PVR was similar to your rig (single core Athlon64, 384MB ram, 9500Pro AGP), and I could swear I got better performance from it than I ever have from the dedicated setup in my sig. Sometimes I feel like everything I've done to get better hardware, better video, better signal has made things slowly worse.
As to the overal discussion of another PCI tuner, I appreciate everyone's input (and I'm still scared of the HVR-1600). I think with the final digital transition only 17 days away, I'm going to hold off on any changes until then. Almost every station in the area is going to change broadcast frequencies, and many will apparently increase their broadcast power as well. I'll see how the channel scans go after that.
