If you have ever doubted the difference that the fps makes on an HD broadcast I suggest you have a look at this sample http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=4

At least for me at 50 Mhz when the scrolling satellite ad details are on screen, at 50 Mhz it is smooth scrolling, at 60 Mhz, you can see it stop and stutter along.

I think the real question is... what frame rate did the source media use. because whenever you try to change framerates to something that isnt a multiple of the original, you can get artifacts, jerkyness, etc. hence the whole big deal about 120Hz TVs and playing back blurays better. (5 x 24fps, which is what most movies are recorded at)

now if only I could get a 600Hz display, then EVERYTHING would be happy 24fps, 50fps, 60fps...

The jerkiness is explained by the source, I thought with people using so many sources for video now I wanted to demonstrate the impact. 120 Mhz is potentially marketing one of the important common denominators is 1001.

i get no video when trying to play it..h264? mpchc doesn't even show video inside,just audio from the demux...
if it's just a 50hz program, i should be able to see it, which makes me wonder if it wasn't encoded wrong.... is it straight from tv without any modification?
or are you guys using haali?

It plays fine with at 50Mhz with mvpmcx2 on the PCH for me, at 60 Mhz I note the problem, but on mpchc I get a lot of tearing and I have trouble reading the ad.

I'm glad someone else notices the difference! - when I started a thread asking what people did about this, I got little response - some users saying that they let their decoders sort it out. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=41532 But I can see instantly when a 25fps video is playing with a 60Hz output instead of 50Hz, or when a 30fps video plays on a 50Hz output. I would describe it as a micro-judder, certainly most noticeable on ticker-tapes. And of course Windows and games look best at 60Hz progressive.
I use my Hauppauge remote (on the desktop, before starting GBPVR) to switch the resolution between 1080i 50Hz, 1080p 60Hz, and 720p 50Hz accordingly, using a free app called displaychanger;

For PCH users I am hoping the sub can consistently send the proper fps so this can be set auto magically,
