Background:
I have been using GBPVR for a couple of years now.
I have a Hauppauge PVR 500 and 150 card to capture TV and input from SKY decoder. I have two Hauppauge MVPs around the house. GBPVR is absolutely magic as I have been able to watch recorded TV or movies from the library in any room and even steam SKY to the other rooms via MVP with a consistent GBPVR experience.

And then I brought a High Def TV and the trouble started………………….
I decided to go the HDTV route and purchased a Hauppauge Nova TD500 DVB-T capture card and a ATI HD4350 video card.

I have read so many forum entries but can’t get my head around how to get reliable playback of New Zealand Freeview TV and the codec configuration method.
I managed to get Graphstudio to playback all my sample files captured off the main channels but that didn’t translate to a successful GBPVR solution.

All files play back in Power DVD 9 with little CPU utilisation.
I don’t quite understand the “use TS transport stream reader filter for TS files” check box or which BDA multiplexer to use but have tried all three.

On some channels I get video and no sound others it’s no video but with sound. On the High Def test channel I get neither.
I have installed codec’s from ArcSoft, Core, Power DVD and more splitters than I care to mention but am struggling with a logical method to resolve this problem.

I know that the New Zealand Freeview audio adds an additional challenge.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with the most basic of instructions and perhaps the logic behind it?

Cheers
Robert

You need monogram for the audio. Googling finds it pretty readily (.96 I think is the most latest version).

As for video, you may have missed the boat with Power DVD. Power DVD 8 was the one you wanted, and about 3 months ago they posted an update that stopped third party apps being able to use their codec. This may still be the case.

Also since you have an ATI cards, you needed the very latest beta drivers (they may be produiction now I'm not sure) to get h.264 decoding working properly. There are a lot of threads on Geekzone.co.nz regarding ATI cards and H.264 decoding NOT working. It's mostly recommended you get an nvidia card, 8500GT and above or 9400GT and above.

Thanks for the Power DVD 8 tip that was the fix. All channels play with video and audio just Channel 3 and Freeview test channel have jitter. Will check ATI forum entries.
