Is there any reason NPVR would fear worse than GBPVR in regard to glitchy audio?

Since moving to Win7, I have always had some audio glitchyness on some of the FreeView NZ channels (particularly those on the Optus D1 12456 H transponder). But with NPVR, low bit-rate channels, such as C42 are particularly bad, with audio breaking up so badly that it makes watching the channel unbearable.

I have tried various Mpeg audio decoders but can't seem to improve this at all. It's also not related to any one particular make/model of DVB-S tuner. I'm getting well over 90% signal quality and a set-top satellite receiver has no such problem.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe because we no longer have the choice to choose the BDA Multiplexer, the TS-Mux isn't handling this as well as the Mux I used to use.

Any suggestions on how to sort this would be much appreciated.

Another thing you could try is disabling the other decoders you're not using. DVB-S in NZ is MPEG1 Layer 2, so temporarily set AC3, HE-AAC etc to 'Disabled'.

Thanks Sub, I'll give that a try when I get home tonight.

Wow, Sub, you are good! HE-AAC was already set to disabled, but AC3 was set to use a codec. Setting this to disabled fixed the issue.

So, what's going on to cause this? Is the stream from the Optus D1 12456 H transponder confusing NPVR and making it think, intermittently, that the audio stream is AC3?

Funny that only one of the FreeView Transponders causes this, the other one that carries the TVNZ channels does not (although I have also seen the problem with BBC World Asia Pacific off IntelSat 5).

Anyway - thanks!
