What is the rationale for not providing dvr-ms files as an option? I've had a lot of trouble trying to setup the nPVR to use the .ts files (see my current audio woes at http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...s-as-GBPVR )...thingswere better (albeit not perfect) with .dvr-ms under GBPVR. I certainly trust Sub and his decisions (he's had the best PVR for years now, and I trust nPVR to only widen the gap with the competition), and I do see some advantages with .ts files (i.e., multiple audio streams, cc, etc.), but thought I should ask as this could be a simple solution...but I suspect there is more here than I understand. I consider commercial skipping critical for nPVR...the lack of it (or poor implementation of it) would keep me from switching to the new program (and certainly would prevent me from using it if I were a new user looking for a pvr program).

I seem to remember it had something to do with not having to rely on propiarity muxers (like Microsofts dvr-ms or Cyberlinks MPEG2). And ofcourse tha advantage of multiple streams (multilanguage, subtitles etc).

Another problem for me is that WizRenameRecording apparently will not work with .ts files, only DVR-MS. I expect it is more than that, since it probably has to do with the database also, but I thought I would start somewhere. It is unfortunately a killer problem for me, and I will have to stick with GB-PVR if I can't find some way to put the actual show name on the file. Maybe I am missing some other way of doing it?

May I ask why you have to rename the recordings? Doesen't it get the correct name from the EPG?

I get the name of the series (e.g., Masterpiece Theater) and the date and time, but not the name of the show (e.g., Murder on the Orient Express). So I need something to pull it out of the database, or wherever it is hiding. Then, Comskip can run and do its thing.

Or is NPVR different than GB-PVR in that respect? I have gone back to GB-PVR and have somewhat lost track of what NPVR does.

Mmm, so the actual title is in the EPG's subtitle? What country are you in?

U.S.A., on the RCN cable network. Maybe there are stations for which it includes both the series and show titles together, I don't recall at the moment, but I would really like the show title on the file in a folder that has the series title, which is what I get with WizRenameRecording.

You could always try to throw in a wish in the Wishlist forum, maybe someone will write a rename utility Smile

In phase 2 of my SearchLite NPVR plugin I was planning to add a rename functionality, I prefer S##E## format myself, episode names can be long. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to make a standalone utility for post processing. As for including the Subtitle info in the title, again the plan in phase II of SearchLite is to offer search and play, completing the functionality so for me it isn't necessary

ie. Search "Harry Mudd"

- if it is in the EPG you have an option of recording it. (phase 1 complete)
- otherwise give an option to have NEWA record the show if the term comes up. (phase 1 complete)
- if an episode of Star Trek is found give have to play it (phase 2)

Yes, that is what I need to do. All the older ones that I used (first RenameRecording and now WizRenameRecording) are no longer being updated apparently.

Here is an example I just got. The folder created by GB-PVR is "WWII In Their Own Words"

File before WizRenameRecording:
WWII In Their Own Words_20100802_11451205.dvr-ms

File after WizRenameRecording:
WWII In Their Own Words - Ethel Kinkaid.dvr-ms
