In case you're not following it...

A mining rescue expert went down about an hour ago (and is still there) and the first miner has been safely brought up to the surface about 10 minutes ago.

Yeah - pretty amazing stuff. I had the telly on when they lowered the guy down, and came out of the rescue pod at the bottom to clapping miners. Really cool, and a great outcome.

A bit surreal - seeing live pictures from the surface as well as live pictures of the guy stepping out of the pod. Even though we know how this stuff works it was still amazing.

EDIT: The paramedic just stepped out of the pod. Fingers crossed all goes well.

I had some great feelings watching this happen live. The sight of the little boy crying while waiting grabs your heart. 2 months without his father and knowing his a mile down the ground. I definitely see a movie out of this story. Hope they do it right.
It's things like this that brings the world together. As I type this, they're working on the 10th miner. I'm hoping it's a 100% success.

Yeah that's funny stuff.. that guy was probably not in too much of a hurry to be pulled out.
