A couple of issues with 1.5.36:
  1. XP install needs C:\Users\Public. On my machine - I dont have it. It doesnt seem to install anything there, but gave a range of errors when installing. These went away when I created the empty directory.
  2. Still not highlighting pending recordings. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...highlight=. Interestingly, the same shows are not highlighted on my server (Win 7) and client (Win XP). Sometimes, things are reversed - I get the show highlighted, but not the time bar at the top.
  3. High CPU load. XP, client mode = 80%. No problem on Win 7.

Update to point 3: I have a Matrox G550 video card. dxdiag says no Direct3D. There are errors in the log about Direct3D - could this cause the high CPU load? Do I need a better video card?

Thats all so far...

This card should support DXVA, what video renderer and decoder are you using? And so you have the required DirectX installed?

Quote:This card should support DXVA
Sorry - I don't understand the significance of this.

Quote:what video renderer and decoder are you using?
Renderer is EVR.
All decoders are "disabled" except for MPEG2=ffdshow, but the problem is happening even when on the top menu.

Quote:And so you have the required DirectX installed?
Yes - latest freshly installed.
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
DxDiag says:
------------
DxDiag Notes
------------
DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.
Display Tab 1: No problems found. Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.
Sound Tab 1: No problems found.
Music Tab: No problems found.
Input Tab: No problems found.
Network Tab: No problems found.

Someone reported that an older version of the driver "is the last to support Direct3D", and I did find one that DxDiag reported as supporting Direct3D.
However, Direct3D 9 testsd gave an invalid scan frequency on the TV, and there were still the same errors in the logs.

Also latest drivers for the card.

The log file errors are:
010-12-27 11:10:39.546 [ERROR][1] Error initialising Direct3D: SlimDX.Direct3D9.Direct3D9Exception: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL: Invalid call (-2005530516)

at NextPVR.Utility.Direct3DHelper..ctor(IntPtr windowHandle, Int32 width, Int32 height)
at NextPVR.ControllerForm.Form1_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)
2010-12-27 11:10:39.546 [INFO][1] Continuing with Direct3D disabled

All help gratefully received.

You have only one option left, if u want using directx 9: replace the good Matrox G550 with another, newer card. But to be honest: You'll have no serious problem with your G550. Just the menu will not hardware rendered by the Matrox. And because the missing directx 9 capability of your G550, the cpu has to render this graphics in software mode. This is, why you have such a high cpu usage on this system.

Any of those agp cards would help you at your problem: http://gh.de/eu/?cat=gra256&xf=142_9.0c&sort=p

But at those prices you could just even buy a new mainboard with an integrated gpu like the nvidia 8300/9300 (AMD/Intel ION).
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!

My happy NextPVR family

Any suggestions for 2?

Cheers
