Most of what is on TV during evening viewing hours is garbage anyway (IMHO).

I think your HO is quite right, it is mainly Mrs Steeb that watches most of the LiveTV, I tend to put the news on or a music channel and avoid most garbage Wink I do have to record documentaries etc that Mrs Steeb doesn't like to watch for viewing at my leisure! Of course quite a lot of the pleasure to be had is not watching the LiveTV in the first place, it is configuring GB-PVR (now NextPVR) and tweaking it, and getting everything just right that is probably the most fun Big Grin Of course the reward for me is the occasion where there is something to watch Live on TV or putting my feet up with a good recording.........

You should have at least got a friendly 'The tuner being used for live tv is no longer available' message, rather than just being dumped back to the main menu with no reason.

Only a programmer would think that is friendly. Whenever that's happened to my wife, she says "hey, johnsonx42, your stupid tv box is broken again! can you get this error message off the screen and get me back to my show?".

A more friendly message would be "LiveTV was ended due to scheduled recordings"; it would be even better if the message was in an actual dialog box with OK being the only option. This way when the kids shout "mommy, daddy, the TV quit!", the message explaining what happened isn't gone by the time we get there.

It would be even more friendly if it could also display a warning message for a few seconds saying "LiveTV is about to end for scheduled recordings".

It would be REALLY friendly if it would display a warning dialog with for a minute before ending livetv, along with a list of the programs about to be recorded that could be canceled if one wishes to continue watching LiveTV instead. This would be quite a bit more work I know, but would elevate NPVR to near-TiVo levels of WAF.

And the uttermost friendly would be if it simply ordered a new tuner and installed it automatically Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
