Hi,

Although this would be easy to implement with Shortcuts*, I was thinking it would be useful to have a menu item that allowed you to browse USB / external drives for all media content (music / videos / pictures), a bit like how many DVD players these days allow.

Thanks Smile

* Still holding out hope sub re-implements this GBPVR feature in NPVR - http://bit.ly/hPjVHN Smile

I definitely wouldnt put anything on the main menu for this, but I could possibly have removable drives show up in the top level Music/Video/Picture library.

Hi sub,

What I had in PVRX2 was a folder in each of my libraries like so...

[00 Removable Drives]
> [Drive E*]
> [Drive F*]
> [Drive G*]
> [Drive H*]

Where * are shortcuts. Whatever way you'd implemented it meant that only drives that were present would be shown in the list. Worked perfectly. Also, like I said in the other thread in which I'm selling shortcuts, the shortcuts are very useful for linking between related series and collections on the drive. Smile

(also had a couple of links to Network Shares, which is very useful too when the computers aren't always present or turned on, such as laptops).

It should already behave if you add drives that arent always available. ie, if you know your USB stick usually shows up as E:\, then you should be able to add this drive. It'll always be listed in the Video, but if you try to access it when it's not available it should give you some device not available message and stay in the root directory.

Yep, it does exactly that, but it was a little more graceful the other way in that it just didn't show drives you couldn't go to.

I'll try to change the next release to not show any of the configured directories that arent available.

Just a thought from a non-coder, but at least for Windows 7 systems, could NPVR utilize the Libraries function that's built into the OS? It automagically displays only the contents of folders defined within the library that are currently available.

I've looked at the Windows 7 Libraries in the past, and decided I'm not a fan. Sorry.
