Originally I was going to suggest keeping a wishlist list on the wiki where one could peruse to see if a wish been asked..

perhaps there could be a mark indicating the likelihood of the wish being implemented.

and also a mark that the wish was fulfilled...

And then I thought... would it be possible if mods (beat me if it's too much work) delete wish requests from the forum... so only outstanding wish requests exist..

I don't know... just thinking out loud...

Sorry - but I operate under a 'neither confirm nor deny' policy Big Grin

I hate to tell people I'm going to do something, only to later find its not practical. You'd be surprised how often this would be the case. I experiment with a lot of stuff that never makes it into releases.

I figured as much... and read posts to the like... of course you have enough on your plate... I was actually thinking of others who are well familiarized with the progress of nPVRs development.

In my transition to nPVR... I am still having trouble sorting information I thought would be easily accessible. I know how we are all such a documenting' clan..

I'm keeping a list of the glitches and stopups that I encountered... and the solutions... so that I can add to the new wiki, similar to when I first joined...

But if something has already been asked... and there has been some indication that it WON'T be implemented... then there should be a way to let people know they should give up.. (I'm in a defeatist mood and thought I would share it)

A good example is Genre Colours. I love it and wanted it... read a thread saying how the whole mechanism would slow the TV Guide / EPG considerably...
...and so I hopped off that band wagon lightening fast (as fast as the new EPG)

In a way I'm suggesting eliminating some redundancy redundancy...

I can see it would save time on sub's part of repeatedly answering requests on things that are impractical or above and beyond how he wants to keep NPVR as universal and streamlined as possible. On the other hand, do people look back 25,000 threads to see if it was requested once as in GBPVR... probably not. They might search a little. So many tweaks must be a handful to manage for one person. Change one thing.... might break another.

Well that's what I have been doing... and feeling a little guilty about it... I do do searches and read stuff... but after a few dead ends... I just throw up another question and hope it hasn't been answered to death already...

Well it was an idea... and now... I'll feel a little less guilty

Blah, don't feel guilty. My Dad always says there is no such thing as a dumb question. This community is full of very nice people that are here to help. I read other site forums and I am shocked how mean and rude people can be to others that are simply looking for help. Everyone has different levels of capabilities. I know I can get so far that I can get myself in trouble, then I need to seek help/suggestions.

I am sure you know this, but for others following this thread this might help them... Sometimes I get real lucky using google. In the search I use site:forums.gbpvr.com (then what I am trying to find). This way you get a little bit of a description of what the thread is about and you can surf really fast through them to see if anything jumps out at you that is relevant.

It's true... a google search is sometimes a better way than the site search

Especially if you want to search for something short, like .ts
