Two channel audio .avi's

I have some .avi files with two soundtracks (english and norwegian), playing those in VLC I can select which audio I want but when I play them with npvr I hear both audiotracks. Very annoying

Since npvr is not directly involved in playing .avi's, is there some way I can select which track I want? The audio is AC3 stereo.

Did you tryed SAF6?
Only one will play and you can switch beteen them by pressing CTRL+ALT+Numpad1

I'v already tried ffdshow and (as usual) it does not work very well.

It is not about FFDshow, it is about LAVF splitter + FFDshow combination + correct settings.

That's unfortunately not an option, I'd be left with a lot of tv-channels without sound.

Well the SAF package tells me to uninstall all other codecs, and I need some of them (that ffdshow does not handle), and ffdshow does not give me proper surround sound.

Which one?
SAF 6 now use LAVF audio decoder as primary one. I dont known about any sound limitation, even all HD audio bitstreaming (including DTS-MA) is supported now.
LAVF audio decoder doesnot support some Live TV AAC formats, that is why there is divx AAC audio decoder included.

So if you can provide me any sample that doesnot work correctly with SAF6, i would realy like to have it

I'v solved the problem. For some reason all splitters had been uninstalled, possibly by removing some native capturecard software.
