Has anyone else gotten the new Program Guide upgrade on their Comcast STB? I have a Scientific Atlanta 4250 STB that was recently upgraded to their new program guide (embedded software) and it broke firewire channel changing via the timmoore firestb package.

Kind of a PITA, I would prefer to not have to set up a blaster to change channels.

Hi,

I'm actually a SageTV user, but ... yes ... this happened to me yesterday. I have 2 x 4250HD's and both got updated and they broke the firewire channel changing Sad hate this. Wish I could make them roll back the change, but even just trying to get someone to talk to at comcast that knows about firewire is mission impossible ....

Is it possible that you guys just need to change the number of digits being sent or did it get disabled completely?

I haven't had a chance to sit down and mess with it on the command line yet. I am hoping it's something that simple.

Last year on my 4250 (not Comcast) had problems after a SARA firmware upgrade, I thought the same thing, but it turned out to be that the command line tuning parameter changed. That was the only time that tuning has failed for HDPVR recordings, in two years and I can't imagine using a blaster, I'll stay 32 bit for a long time to keep this stability. Knock on wood.

I don't know if this is the same problem but I suddenly had an issue where NPVR was only passing "0" to the box but running the batch file worked fine. I honestly don't know why it happened but I started digging around and ended up adding all of the patches from the survival guide which I had left alone as I had no problems that needed the attention. Upon reboot, all was well again.

Which parameter changed? I just spent 20 minutes futzing with every command line param I could find, no joy.

I now use -f -a0 2 00{channel} it was -a3 before. Should also confirm that your device number hasn't changed.
