You've probably noticed the server going up and down several times over the last few hours. We seem to be the target of a DDOS attack. I'm working on it...

yeah, I saw that. first it reported a database error, then just wouldn't come up at all. at least nothing appears to have been lost.

I see you've updated the software or changed some settings, as now there's a little yellow Auto-Save notice coming up every half-minute or so, and there's new shading around this reply box. oh, the 'go advanced' mode looks much different. probably other little changes too. looks good.

do you think the DDOS is aimed at you in particular, or just your web host?

Seemed to be at me in particular. It was one IP address pounding a particular forum URL over and over again.

The NextPVR logo got brokedy broken whilst all this was happening and has gone back to vBulletin one.

That autosave feature is nice, and the advanced editing mode looks very interesting!

Yeah, I took the opportunity to also update vbulletin to the latest patch version, since they emailed a few days ago to describe a security flaw which had been found.

I'll fix a logo a little later when I find my backup of the file.

that doesn't sound very nice. at least if it was just one IP address doing the pounding it's not too hard to block. not technically a DDOS attack, but unpleasant all the same.
