My local Fox affilliate broadcasts their HD signal on physical channel 11. They also own another station and broadcast tower on channel 13. The two have different footprints, so they broadcast an SD version of Fox on channel 13.4 as well to cover as many homes as possible, but many people including me get both versions just fine.
I wanted to take advantage of this fact using Multi-Record (because I often record shows on both Fox and the 'regular' channel 13), so I merged the two Fox channels together.
However, it appears to have simply deleted the HD version of the channel altogether; only the SD 13.4 version now exists in the channel list for either tuner.
I realize this was not the planned use of the Merge function, so clearly I confused it by trying to do this (at least it didn't just blow up!).
This sort of manipulation was possible in GB-PVR by creating multiple instances of the same tuner device, and then carefully defining the channels available in each instance.
Could you fix/improve the Merge logic so that it's possible to merge two versions of the same channel on the same tuner without losing one of them?
This would be an even bigger help to QAM users who almost always have SD and HD versions of each channel on different frequencies.
