This post should probably be in a new thread, so I moved it.

Is the HVR-4400 still the preferred option? What other options are there? If I go down this route, I'm gonna need a solution where I can watch encrypted channels. I still need to figure out, though, if my card is paired with my box or not. Not sure how to find that out.

However, *if* I would go with this, what would I need? A HVR-4400, and a CI module? Is that it? I can't figure out how they are connected.

The other option I can think of is to go with the multidec solution. I still have, I think, and old phoenix smart card reader that I was playing with for trrying to decrypt dvb-t channels back in the days, but didn't quite have the patience to figure everything out. Would that work, you think?

I have two pci slots free, and at least one pci-e slot. Maybe one more, depending on how much place the card takes...
