wiki says "to do", so I ask here...

These skin things - are they a sub standard (sub as in the boss rather than below standard) Wink or are they based on some generic skinning idea?
If generic, does anyone have a link?.

I am trying to tweak, very slightly the default skin to optimise it for my TV via NMT. Is there a "comment out" facility? when playing with other stuff, I prefer to comment out the line I am tweaking and fiddle with a copy - I can't see anything like that in the supplied skins.

Are there any tools to help view changes to avoid my slow hunt and peck style of Edit, Save, Npvr, TV Guide, Sigh, Exit ??
any ideas most welcome.

I've been trying to do something similar. I've had some luck but it's mostly been trial and error. I have been using notepad++ to edit the xml files. It will show the commented out lines in green. Which I figured out was <!-- comment -->

I wanted to tweak the video browser just a bit. I never found anything except the following steps:
edit xml
open npvr
look at screens (assuming I didn't break it so bad it wouldn't work)
close npvr
edit xml
etc

Here is my result so far

I like this, but it took quite a while just to get it like this. Hopefully someone will come along and enlighten us to a better way.....

These two steps are probably obvious to everyone else here but anyway:

I copied the entire default skin folder to a new folder called mymod in the C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Skin folder. This way I can go into setup in NPVR and select my new skin (MyMod). I can make changes without touching the default skin and all the screens that I don't modify still work fine.

I made the changes above by editing C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Skin\MyMod\Videos\videos.xml

And I think something like this would be even easier to deal with if this was implemeted again:

Yep that's how to comment out a line/lines

That's pretty much how I do it & I have been doing GB-PVR/PVRx2/NextPVR skins for quite a number of years now, you do get better at knowing what will do "approximately" what with practice & a bit of maths every now & then helps speed things up a tad as well Wink

And there was me, hoping someone would pop up with a "I've got a GBPVR/NPVR/xxx emulator that lets you dynamically tweak values and see instantly the effects"

Ah well, dream on....
