Actually scrub that, i've just looked and there are some channels on freeview that are not on freesat. May be 2 dual tuners is the way to (2xDVB-T and 2xDVB-S2)......

It may be of no help but I am currently building my new system up. For anything HD I need I have opted for Satellite. PCI slots etc are always a problem. I have yet to run up mvallevand's Network Recorder but believe that will eventually build outside of my box!

EPG really should not be an issue if you look into xml solutions.

cheers

I did this as more as a demo, and while the NetworkRecorder using remote instances of NRecord is possible (using the streaming live tv interface) it does not currently support multi-rec and maybe more importantly these remote machines couldn't be PC clients to your main PC.

But from what I have understood a remote server with your system becomes at worst case scenario an extra tuner?

Sure you could use a low-end machine or your "clunker" as a remote tuner or maybe tuners, subject to limitations of the NextPVR web streamer.

Freesat is due to get C5+1, 5* and 5USA next week. But yeah, if you can run dual format tuners, then that's the way to go. All the channels from both services, and beautifully integrated into a single EPG which is something that nothing else on the (consumer) market can do to my knowledge.

I think that's me sorted then. Best start shopping :-)
