Great news!

Unfortunately it looks like this isn't going to happen. I received my hardware, but upon further investigation I found libCEC's license wont allow use from NextPVR.

They dual license their libCEC software, allowing it for free use from open source applications, or offer it for use in commerical applications for a fairly large $$$ fee. There is no license option for free-as-in-beer-but-closed-source applications like NextPVR. I contacted them to check, but they were only able to offer me the large fee option. The NextPVR project cannot afford that. Seems a crazy model - they should just make their money selling the hardware, rather than excluding potential sales this way.

How about an open source plugin for NPVR that uses libCEC, would that count as valid use of the open source licence?
