sometimes when my computer win 7 wakes up the UI aspect ratio goes to 4:3 when it should be 16:9. How do I fix this? I suppose on the wakeup.bat I can tell it to restart npvr. I've told npvr that the UI is 720p and 16:9 and when I check it still is.

I think it does this because upon waking up the computer outputs 800x600.

The output is an ATI HDMI output with it's special adapter.

Update: it's not a wakeup issue. If I turn off the LCD tv long enough and turn it back on then the NPVR interface is no longer 16:9 but rather 4:3. The computer has not gone into sleep mode yet.

I've got a Dynex 32" 720p LED TV. I've set the output resolution to 1360 x 768 (Native resolution) and told npvr to use a 16:9 TV shape and 1280 x 720 resolution...should I add 1360x768 into the config.xml?

I had a similar struggle with my 1050x1650 LCD, found it worked best set to AUTO.

I did some more experiments and it's not an NPVR issue so if possible maybe move it somewhere else...maybe OT?

Anyways, it also does this with xbmc so it looks like it's my setup. I'm thinking it's an auto detect thing with win 7 where when I turn off my LCD TV it turns off the HDMI signal or something like that. Has anyone ran across this? Google shows a lot of multi-monitor problems like this but not a single one like mine.

More detail about my problem: upon turning off the TV for a while but not necessarily going to sleep the NPVR UI is in 4:3 aspect ratio. The height is full height but the length is 3/4 of the full screen. The UI seems to function normally however. The entire UI is 4:3 and is to the side not centered. Restarting the UI fixes things.

I've got an ATI card radeon hd5770 using HDMI out through the proper adapter.

Could be an HDMI handshake issue. Read up on EDID overrides and see if that helps you, or splash some cash on a Gefen HDMI Detective.

It's probably an HDMI issue indeed. I have a similar one, ever since adding a AV receiver to the mix. Never got around to properly troubleshoot it, but if NPVR is full-screen, when I turn on the av receiver, although the screen still is 16:9 NPVR sits awkwardly in the top-left corner, with the rest of the desktop screen/windows visible. Cycling through Alt+Enter (once to exit full-screen, twice to full-screen it again) corrects it.

@imilne
Thanks for the tip...

I'm at work and I'll have to try it later...but since Sykor you might be at home try this:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/genera...ved-83434/

disable the Ati/AMD External Event Utility Service

Disable the "Ati External Event Utility" service
Press Windows Key+R to bring up the "run" command
Type "services.msc" and press enter
Right click on "Ati External Event Utility" and select properties
Change "Startup Type" to Disabled. Press OK
Reboot
