Dear all,

I have finally got around to looking at a few niggly's with NextPVR and my setup.

Server is running XP MCE.

Channel in question seems to scan OK with DVB-T device yet hangs the system when I try to watch it with NextPVR?

Logs attached

cheers all

Interesting...I'm assuming it's Dave ja vu? I can't watch it either. I rarely use npvr to watch live TV and I can't remember the last time I scheduled a recording on it so hadn't noticed it doesn't work.

Testing on my PC, I see "npvr - Dave ja vu" in the title bar but just get black screen and no sound. Are you pointing at Crystal Palace?

Cheers,
Brian

Hi Brian,

'tis indeed "Dave ja vu"!

Aerial pointed at Hannington but did do all areas scan though can't think aerial pointed at Hannington would have picked up CP Transmitter, particularly not with the dirty great hill I have behind us Big Grin

cheers

Hi steeb,

I've just tried it with my TV's built-in Freeview tuner - apparently it's only showing from 2am-4am now according to the on-screen message. That'll explain why TSReader is also only showing a single data stream.

Cheers,
Brian

Ah ha,

thanks Brian, I don't have a built in tuner to test with. So is Dave ja view a pay per service at some points in the day and not at others? Only because I get TV listings from RT for this so presumed if RT was listing the channel was available!

cheers

Hi Brian,

did some vague research, looks like though a signal is still being sent that channel is now pretty much defunct? However RT still has full programme data for it. So what is it broadcasting on? Pay per view Freeview of Freesat from Sky!?

Whichever way seems to me to be a good idea for me just to remove it from the channel line up....

cheers

The RT listings actually cover all broadcast times for each channel depending on the source.

For example Dave ja vu is currently 'broadcasting' to my Virgin Media cable box. It's possible it might also be available via Sky and/or Freesat. That's always been the problem with the differing broadcast media. It seems that whoever owns Dave ja vu and/or operates the MUX it broadcasts on has sold the bandwidth for someone else to use. Somewhere on that MUX there'll be a channel which stops at 2am when Dave ja vu starts and then something else will jump in at 4am. Time-share done in the digital TV way. Big Grin

BTW, I asked about CP just as a confirmation (I wasn't sure). I had a feeling that the hills you have around you way wouldn't allow line of sight in that direction.

As a fix for the listings problem, you can add the following line to the local channels section of ukrt_freeview_limit.lua file in the XMLTV GUI scripts folder. It should trim out (post-process) everything other than the 2am-4am slot.

Code:
{id="2052",start=2,stop=4}

EDIT: Oops, posted the wrong details for the code block....fixed now.

Cheers,
Brian

Mnay thanks Brian,

yes CP Transmitter was not an option fo rme when I put in the new aerial Wink

Have put in the XMLTV GUI script the freeview limiter (never tried that before) emptied EPG anyway as am playing with a few other things, will see how new EPG works with Dave ja vu limited Big Grin

Thanks for the tip.

I think the strange use of Dave ja vu on Freeview is so UKTV can keep ownership of a reasonable EPG slot. The expectation is that when capacity is available the slot will be used for one of their other channels moving to Freeview. I think the regulatory process is much simpler and quicker renaming an existing channel rather than applying for a new channel.
