No HD channels...

I'm a new NPVR user and I've managed to get everything working except HD channels. I know they're there because WMC shows them just fine. I decided to try NPVR since WMC is lame and won't give up the mouse in full screen mode when using multiple monitors and since our HTPC is also the "family PC", we still need to be able to use the comp if someone is watching TV.

I'm running 2.5.5 with the SAF codec pack from another member here (hodorg, maybe?). My tuner is a dual channel Hauppauge 1800 card and it the channels seem to show up like they should in the channel list, but switching to them produces SD video quality.

What am I missing?

Perhaps try this setting in devices, select tuner, then device setup, then you need to double click device channels.

It shouldn't be that. They only use MPEG2 for broadcast TV in the US.

Are you using digital cable or an antenna? If it's an antenna, I think the major network affiliates only broadcast an HD signal any more, though some of the sub-channels are SD. If you're using digital cable, then generally the cable company will transmit both SD and HD versions of many channels, so when you do the channel scans and epg mapping you need to make sure you pick the HD versions. It seems that NPVR can't tell MPEG-2 SD from MPEG-2 HD, but you can generally tell which are which by the fact that only 3 HD channels will fit on a single frequency, while a dozen or more SD channels will fit. The cable companies don't seem to intermix SD and HD channels either.
