That's just madness. Why would they have done that. What a hack. Every other manufacturer manages to have drivers that correct report themselves as supporting both DVB-T & DVB-C without resorting to that type of ugliness.

I dunno, but note that it's just my theory, it may not be true, unless u also agree with my theory.

tbsdtv.com Wrote:2. TBS6280 DVB-T2/T/C combined driver is released, which merges DVB-T2, DVB-T and DVB-C support in one driver. It will take a little more time to lock the signal compared to the DVB-T2/T Windows driver.
I'm guessing your theory is correct. Ugly though. The extra time they're talking about is trying both DVB-C and DVB-T each time your tune a DVB-T frequency.

If that is the case, then NextPVR is already doing what they intended, by listing it as a DVB-T device. Users of these devices wont be able to use the ready made DVB-C tuning files. They'll instead have to depend on the DVB-T 'all countries/all regions' being the same frequencies, or manually edit the tuning files.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if they're only checking common DVB-C symbol rates though, like 6900 and 6875, so I don't know what they'll do on non-standard symbol rates, like those used here in NZ, since the app wont have a chance to supply them when it's tuned as a DVB-T device.

Thanks for the details. Agree with u that it's a crude implementation.

By the way, how do the other devices with DVB-T and DVB-C appear in NextPVR? Do they appear as 2 logical devices (one supporting DVB-T and the other supporting DVB-C)?

Seems like all the manual DVB-C recurring recordings created with the DVB-C tuner previously cannot be used under this device DVB-T/2 with combined drivers. Have to re-do everything again.

Yeah but there is a way to do it without re-entering the recording schedules.

First create a dummy recording with recurring status (I choose Daily, for example), filename example "RecordCh1", "RecordCh2", etc for each of the channels that your schedules are using.

After that, export the recordings. They will be in recurring-backup.xml.

Edit that file in a normal text editor. Note the number between the field "ChannelOID". It's a 4-digit number if I'm not wrong.

Copy this number to the other schedules that were using the old number. Repeat for as many channels as u have.

After that, import the file into NextPVR.

Dunno. I don't use DVB-C or MCE so I've never investigated. I guess MCE needs something eccentric with DVB-C tuners.
