I've been experimenting with XBMC and have found that with NPVR 2.5.9 live TV behaves similar to what is happening here:

Except XBMC is much better at recovering and NPVR will recover too.

I'm using Frodo Beta 3 w/the included NPVR plug-in (observed it on Beta 2 as well.)

Occasionally, as reported by others, I see a ton of pauses in Live TV as XBMC struggles to keep the buffer full. This mostly happens with 1080 HD channels. I never see it in 480, and very rarely in 720 - I've tested both although I normally keep my STBs in 1080 mode constantly to avoid confusing my HDPVRs.

I see this as well with Frodo RC1 and the NPVR addon.

You need the nightlies not just rc1 for timeshifting to work, the current version of pvr.nextpvr is 1.6.2 rc2 seems close too.

Any ideas if 1.6.2 will get into the next rc? I might just limp along until then, although I imaging the nightlies are pretty darn stable at this point.

If it is in the nightlies, you should see it in the next RC which will be very very soon.

I'm running a nightly from 12-129-2012 with addon version 1.6.2. Buffering issues are a lot better. I've seen a couple, but nowhere near what I was having previously. The couple I did see were mostly after I tired some timeshifting and then jumped back to live TV. It buffered a couple times after catching back up, but then did not do it anymore.

EDIT.
Channel changes are not very fast, but so far they haven't crashed. This is when I see more buffering issues. After changing the channel I get more of the buffering, but it seems to clear up after a minute.

1.6.2 seems to have stabalized much of my LiveTV viewing. Very nice.
