LiveTV Stops Tuner No Longer Available

I just recently setup nextpvr installing all of the R2 patches and am having some issues when playing Live TV in XBMC with timeshifting enabled. I will randomly get a tuner no longer available error message and then the Live TV video reverts to when I started watching and loops through at about 2 second intervals (the following is my log from XBMC at the time it occurs). I watched my Live TV folder and it appears to occur when a new Live TV segment file is created. This happens randomly and varies between each of the four files being created but always occurs between the transition from one file to the next. I do not have any issues playing Live TV when I disable timeshifting in XBMC. I have three machines running the nextpvr XBMC addon and all exhibit the same behavior.

For me the rolling file is the best (for my ssd backend) and worst part of NextPVR, I've seen this for two year now, not related to xbmc. It isn't consistent and I can have from 1 to around 26 segments. Because sub has had tried and failed many times to get to the bottom of it, I normally live with it and when a show playing perfectly is important I use my idea of timeshifting, which is recording it and watching it in progress.

I was having similar issues as yourself after installing the R2 version & after doing some testing I found that replacing the nshared.dll from this thread stopped nearly all the issues I was having with the tuner being lost and live tv files filling up my temp directory.

I would try stopping the nextpvr service & tray app, renaming your current version of the nshared.dll from %programfiles%\npvr & copying the version from that thread and see if your issue still occurs. If it doesn't just delete the nshared.dll and rename the original file back.

Unfortunately McLarenMP4's post links to the very first experimental timeshift post by sub. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...s&p=444915 If it fixes one thing it will break several others. In fact because there is no way for sub to know which version of NShared people are using I highly recommend that users stay with the R2 patches so the logs can at least be relevant and sub can attempt to fix the problem.

Yeah i appreciate that mvallevand. I was recommending to do this purely as a test and not to make it a permanent fix. I just wanted to collate as much bug information as I can related to this issue as I have had severe problems with the nshared.dll since upgrading to R2 & was wanting to see if this issue is the same as I was experiencing.

I have posted a full diagnostic in this post here to show that there are issues since the R2 upgrade. The strange thing is i had very little to no problems in XBMC prior to upgrading to R2 and since then XBMC is unusable with the same issues that the OP had in this thread.

Unfortunately this did not work for me. Everything works perfectly when I disable timeshifting within XBMC so I will leave it at that for now. Seems odd as I get the tuner no longer available error when a new segment file is generated with timeshifting enabled in XBMC. However when timeshifting is not enabled I do not get the error although it appears that the same process (segment files being created) is used. Not sure if this may be related to my setup I am running windows 7 backend for nextpvr with three mac minis as the XBMC frontend. Thanks for all the help.

So after some further testing I used a windows frontend and have no issue with live tv playback with timeshifting enabled in XBMC. Seems to be an issue with using my mac minis as a frontend although I am not sure why this is. I do not have the same issue with argus-tv.
