Hi

I have a problem scanning channels. No Channels are found. My system details are as follows. Please bear with me as I have a vision impairement, so I hope I haven't missed something obvious.

Windows 7 Ultimate - recent fresh install. All available Windows Updates applied, all working perfectly.

TV Tuner - FusionHDTV USB DVB-T: Driver FusionHDTV AVStream Capture (DVB-T2) 6.2.1.0
NextPVR Software Version 2.5.9 + Patches Cumulative Update - March 4, 2013 - NPVR 2.5.9 Post-R2 Rollup 2:

Description:

I am running a dual boot system with Vista and Win 7. The NPVR installation works perfectly on Vista with all 28 availabe digital channels in my region, Bendigo Australia scanned with no problem. I installed the NPVR version above and patches on Win 7. I installed the relevant DVICO FusionHDTV Software & Drivers on Win 7 and it tunes and plays all channels just fine.

On NPVR software, settings>Devices - an error is always produced (Image included in att. ZIP file) Clicking Continue and closing settings, then re-opening Devices then shows 'DV Bluebird BDA Tuner1
Incidentally, the sane error occurs with the device page on Vista, and it also then works on re-opening which leads me believe it is a bug in the NPVR Software.

Click Device setup, Bluebird, BDA Tuner1 Type DVB-T Enabled CHECKED
CI/CAM None
Type Specific Settings Country: Australia Region: Bendigo Scan Offsets CHECKED - Hit
Seems to cycle through the frequencies. Scan Complete but no channels.

I have read johnsonx42's post NPVR Getting Started information
I have tried the Hauppauge SoftPVR option with wintv7_cd_2.7.exe with the suitably modified batch file SoftPVR (32bit).bat rebooted etc and the prblem remains.

I hope you can help. I have huge problems due to my vision loss, so I apologise if I have missed some step. I am confused whay it all installed perfectly on Vista but refuses to budge in Win 7. I know it's an old tuner but thats beside the point. The log files are attached:-

NPVR.log
FilterCheck.log
NPVR Settings error.PNG

Kind regards
tamxir

This looks like a driver problem. I am not sure exactly which device you have ... but ... on the page at http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/ENG/download...Serial=101 there are two drivers listed and the Windows 7 driver is second in the list. It may be that you could confirm that you have the Windows 7 driver for your device. I am pretty sure that you have a DVB-T device and therefore a digital device and the SoftPVR stuff is only required for an analog device.

Thanks for your prompt response Graham

I understand now that I don't require the SoftPVR stuff. Thanks for that. Yes, I am definitely using the recommended Windows 7 device driver.
Link-> This is my Tuner. I mentioned the model in my OP.

So, you are telling me to try another tuner driver when I already have the tuner working on Windows 7 with the FusionHDTV software as I mentioned in my post? I have also just set up Windows Media Centre to use the tuner also with no problems. TV tuning works in two other software packages and not NextPVR, then it is a driver problem how exactly?

I'm sorry, but I can't see the logic in trying another driver for my tuner. It is clearly an NPVR issue. I will, as you suggest, roll back to an earlier/another driver version but I'm not impressed.

Thank you
tamxir

UPDATE: What is going on? On a whim, I tried setting Compatibility mode on the NextPVR.exe executable to Windows Vista SP2 and IT SCANNED the channels, but crashes out when trying Live TV after setting up the directories etc. The executable was from that rollup post. I thought this S/W was out of beta. I'll keep playing with it but I'm questioning my decision to ditch MediaPortal for this. I mainly wanted it for a backend so I could watch Live TV on my Android Tablet and fit it all in with XBMC and PLEX Media server which was all working wonderfully well until some bright spark idiot convinced me that Windows 7 is so much better than Vista. What a load of horse you know what Sad

Are there any more logs or dumps you want me to send? I want this working please!

Update 2: Completely uninstalled NextPVR, all registry leftovers, the Users\Public\NPVR directory - all traces of it on the system and re-installed clean NPVRsetup_2_5_9.exe and no patches, rollups whatsoever. Scanned the channels sucessfully! Did other basic setups, directories, decoders etc. Clicked Live TV and Kee-rash~!

This is getting annoying. zip of logs attached.

I am not in the habit of having any software problem like this, as I was a beta tester before my eyesight failed me. Rarely have I been as irritated by a problem since I found a bug in Google's Android Talkback software recently, so my tolerance to contrary software is generally high. What gets me about this one is that it IS starting to irritate me, as the simple pleasure of being able to watch and SEE TV on my 10" Tablet should not be too much to ask. All the other pieces work except this. Thanks for your patience.

I can't recall seeing the use of Dvico decoders with NextPVR and it may be that NextPVR doesn't play well these decoders. Do you get a result with the Microsoft DTV decoders? It is often easier to make a Recording and get that to play nicely and then move on to Live TV.

Many folk find LAV decoders work "out of the box" http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191.

I, and many others here, use SAF. Send Hoborg a forum private message to get the "unlocked" version http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049

@tamxir, is the device you want to use a digital device? If so you could try to uninstall the analog support (SoftPVR) since it seems that the error you get is connected to analog support. IMHO, the message reminds me of a bad memory location, but it's hard to say without further investigation.
