Hi all,

I'm a long time mediaportal user, thats staring to investigate other systems that maybe more beneficial.

I was wondering if nextpvr had something similar to djblus's sky and freesat mod (http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/thread...ber.96767/)
Where the freesat stations are orgnised into groups and maintained automatically? are is this something I would need to manage manually

cheers all

I looked at the link in your post and I'm afraid that I have no idea what it was telling me. NextPVR finds channels by scanning (as does MP as I recall). The frequencies/transponders that NextPVR scans are stored in .ini files. The channels can be grouped ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...nnelGroups . Apologies if I have missed the point.

I've never seen the point, especially as so many of us run both freesat and freeview channels mixed together in the EPG. It's better to maintain your own list, ordering, numbering, etc rather than rely on someone else's.

Hi,

I disagree, like many others I live a busy life and dont see the point in coming home, to find that a channel no longer exists or has moved therefore requiring you to go fix it.
especially when theres already a very good automatic system out there used by all the STB's. I'm all about actually enjoying whats on TV not maintaining a work system. My mrs hasnt got a clue on how to run a scan and would just like it to work without waiting for me to turn up.

From what I can tell the freesat channels have changed recently. They seem to change more regular than I would like.
I can also merge stations from freeview and freesat seperatly to this DJBlu's plugin so thats not a problem.

Well the closest you're going to get is the data here (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...reesat+ini) but that still requires manual scanning I'm afraid.

What the STBs use may be a closed system, and would likely be hard for sub to replicate as he's in New Zealand. Failing that there's always trying to develop something yourself if you can program (NPVR has an open API), or finding 10 minutes to teach your wife how to run a scan: I'm sure sub would always appreciate the feedback if she finds it difficult or confusing.

Thanks for the information Iain. For some unknown reason when I do a scan I get 20 channels most of which a duplicates. Thats with a without the updated ini file.
