then it appears your issue is with MC2XML. People have had this problem with MC2XML off and on for years, one of many reasons I continue to recommend US & Canadian users use Schedules Direct.

edit: try the -f parameter. also try deleting the TVGUIDE.xml first, then run it again. Oh, also, try Schedules Direct!

i just rebuilt the xmltv file - epg shows on xbmc but not on npvr, weird behavior

Yep, sounds like your problem is your mc2xml then. Try johnsonx42's -f suggestion above.

I assure you your problem with MC2XML had nothing to do with the 2.6.2 update; pure coincidence. Glad -f made it work for you. You shouldn't normally need the -f (it means "force download"), so I suggest removing it after a day or two and see if the problem is gone.

I've had no problems with MC2XML since December, perhaps because my batch file has included -f since December (thanks again Whurlston, wherever you are). The MC2XML file hasn't changed, so any fingers should be pointed at Microsoft. I cannot feel guilty about grabbing their guide data once daily when my obsolete Media Center is still checking the same database several times a day. (I'm using NPVR because my cable provider went all-digital and Vista MC does not support Clear QAM.)

I wonder if a batch file could be devised to borrow Media Center's XMLTV data from ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\EPG? However the XML files appear to have randomly-generated file names, and their owner is "network service."
