NPVR Channel scan finds no channels

That's a great suggestion about trying the old HDHR drivers. I had just hoped that the latest HDHR drivers (the best ATSC tuner) with the latest NextPVR build on the most popular operating system in history together would be a 'just works' situation.

I've updated the HDHR drivers to the old build, but NextPVR has the same issue. GBPVR is completely disabled and the service stopped, so it can't be interfering. I'm thinking it's not HDHomerun, because GBPVR works, it has to be the NextPVR scanning routine. Attached is the updated log.

The last thing it tried before all the .net errors is "Removing filter Network Provider" I don't know what this is or what it does

I puzzled over that too, especially since your NPVR log also contains this:

2013-04-29 23:09:26.781 [DEBUG][1] FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Microsoft Network Provider

This would reportedly be much more serious if it had also failed to locate Microsoft ATSC Network Provider as in this similar thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t-Scanning

I hope someone much more clever than me will scrutinize your logs!

Hopefully sub will take a look at your logs.

For ease of reference I'm attaching the log of another NPVR 2.6.2 user with an HDHomerun who successfully scanned for ATSC channels (NOT drlava!). Looks like you should have a "whoosh whoosh" for each channel scanned, plus a couple more lines pertaining to DigitalRecorder. Windows version was never specified in the other thread (drlava is running XP). The "normal" log contains no "FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Microsoft Network Provider" message. BTW you have Microsoft .NET Runtime v2.0 installed, don't you?

That missing filter is a typical XP message.

I have .net 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 installed.

EDIT: just wanted to report, I tried a bunch of things and it's working now. I'll do some tests to hopefully see what fixed it and report back.

The solution appears to be one of the following:

-remove tuners from setup of gbpvr (maybe this modifies some registry settings that HDHR looks at?, maybe coincidence)
-use latest HDHR drivers
-run 'repair' in HDHR setup Advanced tab

my tests could not determine which of these steps solved the issue, so if you're having a similar problem, try them!
