the process priority of the recording serice is set to 'normal' per default. when i run other processes parallel during recording, the recordings get stuttered.
i changed the process priority of the recording service to 'high' using a 3rd party tool.
the stuttering in the recordings are gone now.
it would be cool to have a parameter to set the priority, so that i dont have to use another tool.

Would supplying priority to the start command be sufficient?

with the command "start /priority appl.exe" you can start and set the process priority of a normal win32-application. however, the gbpvrrecordingservice.exe is windows service, which can only be started via the service control panel or the "net start servicename" command. i dont know a possibility how to manipulate the process priority here.

Since I've been busy with plugin recording services I can think of a way to do this off the top of my head, but it's not the cleanest why to do it:

Take a blank recording plugin and in the constructor or load method write the code to bump the recording service to the high priority. Then create a capture source and select the 'high priority' plugin you've just written. Don't bother to add any channels. When the recording service start it'll create your capture source, load the config (bumping the priority) and then it can be ignored.

empty recording plugin

If you run 'gbpvrrecordingservice run' then it will start outside of the windows services framework.

You could then use start /priority to launch it with your preferred priority.

Note: That it will run this way for about 3.4 days before trying to start as a service. (There is a 300000000 timeout delay). At this point the error is displayed, and I assume that if you don't close it the service will continue to run in the background.
