why do people always ask this question? it gets the aspect ratio from the background image, which in most cases is 720x480 (ntsc) if this doesnt look right to you, gbpvrs aspect ratio wont be correct anywhere, not just in my pictures.

for all those annoying people :p asking about the aspect ratio problem, i finally got off my big fat arse and fixed it, off course im still kinda lazy and didnt bother checking it, so can someone test this and see if it works???

in the config you have two options numeric boxes after
FullScreen Aspect Ratio: [100] x [100]
this is the percentage the width and height are multiplied by when the image dimensions are calculated, so if people appear really skinning try either changed the height down, or the width. and if this doesnt work or theres a big bug, just let me know

my pictures 2.1.0.1

ps the thumbnails.mdb file is no longer included in the zip, since by default it points to mydatabase.mdb

Yes it works!!!

But what is it needed for? If you use the correct skin for your hardware (PAL hardware PAL skin, NTSC harware NTSC skin) the picture aspect ratio is always correct.

BECAUSE PEOPLE ALWAYS COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS "BUG"!!!!

argh, its an easy fix if people want to use 720x480 skins, since most skins are that resolution. glad to hear it works, im to lazy to test it Smile

what do you mean here? what is the exact problem, does it crash when you try and add a virtual root element?

what does the gbpvr.exe.log file say in detail?

Unfortunaely I am not too savy as to which log files to look at. However, here is what I have done. I installed the plugin and then went to the GBPVR config program to set up the directory where the pictures are located. I selected the Plugin tab and then My Pictures and then settings. I added a virtual root named Pictures: HDD:and then selected a directory where I had my pictures divided into subdirectories.

I then started GBPVR and selected My Pictures from the main menu. This is when I received the message mentioned. "Error Key cannot be nullTonguearameter name key". This pops up in a black box and the My Pictures plugin does not start.

I will tell you what the log file you ask about says if you can point me to the right one as I cannot seem to find anything in any of the files about this.

If instead I use the settings to identify the lowest subdirectory where there are pictures (but no further sub-directories), the program works fine for this set of pictures. It seems like I had previously set it up the other way though and it saw the subdirectories just fine without any error messages. Howeve I cannot add a second virtual root directory with more pictures without the error mentioned.

That is about as discriptive as I can be given my limited knowledge of how this program works.

Any help would be appreciated.......

Thanks

The skins also do seem a bit "long" to me, but it's not really bothersome. Seeing the family pictures distorted is a lot worse when setting up for the whole extended family to see slideshows.

The aspect ratio patch works great, by the way. Thank you so much! It just increased the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) a lot! Smile
