Hi all,
recently I moved over from GBPVR to NPVR. I waited until I had a new old system to install it on, to not have downtime. This is crucial for the W.A.F.
Everything went smooth, including installation of 2 x PVR150MCE and 1 x PVR350, and 3 Hauppauge MediaMVP clients. My setup is all analog and this is all fine.

By a scheduled task in windows every night an XML file is composed with WebGrab+. But this file is not automatically imported in NPVR, even thought the most recent location of that xml file can be found in the config file, and the checkbox at the misc tab is turned on.

I came across the script folder when I started researching this problem. However, I think the EPG update.bat file is only needed if you want NPVR to initiate an XML update prior to importing EPG data, right? I don't need this.

The only way to get my tvguide filled is to manualy hit EPG update on the Channels tab in settings. Then it works, although I get a lot off errors and question marks in the data.
My question: what is the trick to have NPVR automatically import my guide.xml?

Thanks for helping me out,
Eric

A wild guess --- The nrecord process (the recording service) imports the xmltv file and runs with a username that is not the same as the username that you use to logon and run NextPVR. Does the folder that contains the xmltv file have Everyone access?

If that is not the problem ... please post logs ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post473613

I configured windowsxp to automatically login at startup. I am the only user on this machine. could I add user credentials/pass to the import action?

The xml file is in c: root. I tried to put it in a newly created folder, but this did not resolve the issue.

update: I setup a scheduled update at 2029, nothing happened. Then manually updated on the channels tab around 2031. that worked. In the log it can be seen as well. I hope you guys can point me in the right direction!

BTW, I lost my recurring recordings, but that could also have happened with the upgrade to the latest release. This can easily be fixed!

Hi all,
did anyone have a chance to take a look at the logs I sent? I see EPG update problems on the forum regularly, but those seem to have something to do with getting EPG data from the servers. I already have good data but cannot auto update it into NPVR.
I would appreciate any help,
thanks

I haven't a clue. nrecord.log has
Quote:2014-05-19 20:05:00.562 [DEBUG][11] No C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NPVR\Scripts\PostProcessing.bat
2014-05-19 20:32:19.171 [DEBUG][11] Reloading recording schedule
These are normal messages and are as expected. But, nrecord.log shows no attempt to import an xmltv file.

Please re-boot or restart the recording service and stop and start NextPVR to restart the logs and make it easier to find stuff. Do a manual EPG update from Settings and post the logs.

Set the time to do a scheduled xmltv update ... Restart the everything for more new logs and post the logs after the scheduled xmltv update should have happened. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for looking at my logs.
I will do that, tonight.
I must however first bake pancakes for 3 hungry kids....

Ok, here are the logs. I tested 3 situations, with each time berfore testing: stopping recording service and closing nextpvr, starting service and opening nextpvr application.
-manual epg update
-empty epg and manual update afterwards
-empty epg and auto update afterwards, scheduled for 1858, took logs around 1907. obviously no update of tvguide happened, that is the issue!

I really hope you can help me figure out what is wrong. I seriously consider moving back to good old GBPVR because of the WAF... That would be a serious step back in time!
thx

You need to restart the recording service (or reboot) for changes to the auto update time to take effect.

ie, in your "log after empty epg and auto update scheduled for 1858" logs, it says:

Quote:2014-05-29 18:47:33.093 [DEBUG][10] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP' at 29-5-2014 20:29
2014-05-29 18:47:33.109 [DEBUG][10] Next EPG update time: 29-5-2014 20:29

but the log only covers up to 2014-05-29 18:55:17, so we don't see the actual time the epg update was going to occur.

Hi Sub, I made new logs, with the EPG update time setup at 1:09
from the Nrecord.log:
2014-05-30 01:06:41.562 [DEBUG][15] Requesting wake up for 'EPGWAKEUP' at 30-5-2014 1:09
2014-05-30 01:06:41.578 [DEBUG][15] Next EPG update time: 30-5-2014 1:09

Guess what? it worked. I don't know what I changed with respect to earlier attempts. Restarting the recording service only affected the update time. Before 20:29 was set as update time, but nothing happened before. I will monitor this and hope it works now.

Then I still got some trouble with recurring recordings, but that is discussed in another topic. Thanks, Eric
